Welcome to the Umingo Wiki

This site will provide tutorials, code snippets and sources related to Java and JMonkey and Browsergames

It is not intended to cover everything and especially basics (eg. learning how to basically programm). There are a lot of good websites who already doing that. The point is to provide help that is hard to otherwise and to show off some cool ideas and concepts.

Every one can sign up and help to improve this site. Umingo wants you! ;) Feel free to create new Content and especially feel free to get in touch with us if you want to participate at the developement.

My next (two) Projects will start soon. I got a job to develope a webapplication and I got fresh energy for my new funproject, I would really love to create a browsergame. So beside the job, is anyone up to help me for the browsergame? I got some rough ideas, see the blog below.

Clans and Alliances

Why do every player need to search for a clan or has to create his own clan? This BG will try another attempt. There are 5 big Alliances, that you can freely choose at the game start. This alliance defines your allies and some attributes.

  • defensive
  • offensive
  • aggressive
  • protective
  • trade
  • build
  • technologie
  • steahlth

Combine those attitudes and there you have 5 alliances the players can choose from.

The special and already named option is the pirate-fraction. This will give people the option to attack whoever they like and play on their own … but they have no out of the box allies too. Stealth and technology advantage will be important to survive this very lonely option. Some hand choosen friends may also a great help.

One big thing to mention is that the most powerful people in every |fraction have the control about diplomacy (between pirates or other fractions), taxes and salary, development aid (for newbies) and every makro management.
Even the type of government (dictator, democracy) can be choosen (but that is something for version 2.0)

My Next Project

Hey folks, my next (two) Projects will start soon. I got a job to develope a webapplication and I got fresh energy for my new funproject, I would really love to create a browsergame. So beside the job, is anyone up to help me for the browsergame? I got some rough ideas,

  • it will be a strategic “build up your economic and destroy your enemies” game
  • your armies are controlled by commanders, each commander can gather exp and develope skills (the RPG-part)
  • there will be a free market where players can trade anomymously (like a stocket market)
  • and one important part is that beside human players there will be bots who will give mighty players a real challenge.
  • bots will force the best players to work together and instead of noob bashing, support them to speed their development and aid against the mighty KI
  • there will be an evolution … if you reach a certain (experience or wealth) level in game you can leave the micromanagement (like town devoloping) and take over more makro managing (like planning attacks and set markers where you want to expand next) .. the goal is to give experienced players more options for epic wars and take their mini wars away.

What do you think? I gues their is great potential and i would really love to get some help. The programming language will be GWT that means a lot of Java, some HTML, CSS for styling and that's it. There is much work to do ;) Cheers Ben
